Students for Seniors: We create Indonesian decorations!

  • 4 października 2023

We are joining forces again to put a smile on senior citizens’ faces. Together with students from Indonesia, we are happy to invite you to participate in a special mission!

What is batik? How to create traditional Indonesian lanterns? What patterns are popular in Indonesian art? On October 13, join us and create unique decorations that will decorate the meeting place for seniors. It’s a fantastic opportunity to do something nice, be in a better mood, meet new people, and learn about Indonesian culture.

When and where?
October 13 (Friday), 11:00-15:00
Faculty of Modern Languages Building, Dobra Street 55
You will find us in the space above the yellow stairs (entrance from Browarna Street)

How to join?
All you have to do is to come and join us.

The workshops are open. You can join us for 5, 10 minutes, an hour or the entire event. It’s up to you!

You do not have to submit an application or be a VC UW Volunteer. However, this is a perfect opportunity to learn more about our activities.

What will we create?
We will create: garlands of lanterns and paper windmills, decorative vases with traditional Indonesian patterns, batik flowers and flags.

You don’t need to have experience or artistic skills. Students from Indonesia will show you everything step by step. We also guarantee the necessary materials.

PS Not all tasks require handicraft skills ;)

The event is organized by the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw and the participants of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA).
Decorations made during the event will go to the Intergenerational Activity Center Nowolipie.
