We would like to invite two students of our University to participate with us in the European STEP Training, which will take place between 6 – 10.04.2020 in Luxembourg.
The objective of this training is to enhance student engagement recognition and promote the implementation of measures of recognition in Europe. It is organised for students, administrative staff members and academics and aims at uniting diverse, international participants so that they work together to achieve the goals.
So if you are an active student and would like to share your experience and insight as well as learn new things and skills on the topic of student engagement, please do not hesitate to send your application!
Detailed description and schedule of the training.
Why is it worth to participate? Because at the end for the 5-day training the participants will learn how to:
• Identify associative engagement in relation with the academic career
• Train for the implementation of recognition measures
• Identify the skills acquired during engagement experiences
• Train for skill identification and development
• Reflect on the topic of student engagement from broader, European perspective
• Evaluate and appropriate the tools Europass, Youthpass and ECVET
• The participants will receive a training certificate.
The organisers of the event will cover the costs of travel, accommodation and food.
Students who want to participate in the workshops are expected to present:
• Interest and involvement in the issue of recognition of student engagement. (Knowledge of the information provided in the Report will be a strong advantage).
• High level of communication competences and teamwork skills.
• Ability to communicate in English fluently (at least B2 in speaking).
• Experience of engagement in extracurricular activities, student associations/ student unions, NGOs, citizenship-related activities, political, sporting or cultural activities etc.
• Strong motivation to cooperate with the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw in the summer semester of the academic year 2019/2020 and the whole academic year of 2020/2021 in order to promote and develop effects of the European STEP Training.
Who can apply?
• Active students of the University of Warsaw from: 1st and 2nd year of the Bachelor’s degree, 1st year of Master’s degree or 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of joint programmes.
• Students who can guarantee that they are fully available from 5.04 until 10.04 and can guarantee that they will actively take part in the whole Training. (There is no possibility of joining the event later or to leave earlier)
How to apply?
➢ Please send a short video (maximum of two minutes) with your answer to the question: “How our university should support and recognise student engagement? And how you can contribute to achieve this?”
(You can share the video with us via: Dropbox, Youtube or via Google drive.)
➢ Please write us a description of:
o Your engagement experience, with the information of which activities you are the most proud of and why.
o Your motivation to take part in the Training.
It does not have to be long; please focus on facts and quality of your engagement, not aesthetic expression.
o Information if you are available to take part in one of the meetings (in our office in the UW Library Building):
• 27th of January between 12:00-13:00
• 28th January between 12:00-13:00 or 14:00-15:00.

Important information about further steps:
We will review your application and contact you via email with the information whether you’ve been accepted for the second stage of the application process. The second stage of the application process will be a meeting at the Volunteer Centre Office on the 27th or 28th of January. After the meeting we will choose two students who will be asked to fill in the participants’ questionnaire for the Training.
The whole process should be finished by 29th January in order to purchase plane tickets and book accommodation. In case you are selected: please be prepared for an intense cooperation with the organisers of the Training.
Note: The training will be conducted in English.
