Lara Clauss

For many years, I’ve been a volunteer for local initiatives, collaborating with highly engaged people who invest their spare time and energy into causes we care deeply about. For me, these experiences have an unexpected contrast with university education: going above and beyond can be too much to ask.

I joined PCG because I was curious whether the experiences of colleagues from other universities, programs, and fields of expertise were different from my own. Our conversations gave me an even better understanding that, while our challenges may be specific to our contexts, we are all working towards a form of community. Enthusiastic contributions to various initiatives can be just as meaningful as giving each other space, showing empathy and continuing to work on ourselves. Being part of this network inspires me to keep doing better.
