  • 20 czerwca 2022

If you are spending summer time in Warsaw and you want to engage in helping your peers from Ukraine, then we have a perfect offer for you!

We are looking for volunteers who will help the participants of the „Solidarity with Ukraine” course with learning English in July and August.

When?

Wednesdays (from the beginning of July to the end of August 2022, with the possibility of extension to September if you wish)

Between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (the meetings will last about 1h-1.5h, the exact hours will be set soon)

Where?

The Volunteer Centre of UW

Dobra 56/66 Street (BUW building)

Tasks for volunteers:

First of all, your task will be to conduct conversations with students from Ukraine – to facilitate language learning in practice.

Who are we looking for?

Open and motivated people, available on the above-mentioned dates, who are fluent in English and have no problem with maintaining the conversation.

You do not need to have experience or preparation in education.

Why is it worth volunteering in this initiative?

  • You will have a real impact on helping your peers from Ukraine, who may soon start studying at our university.
  • You will receive a gift-pack and a certificate of volunteering for the benefit of the community of the University of Warsaw.
  • You will develop communication skills and practical experience in the context of working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • You will take part in a training course on Ukrainian culture (details below).

How to apply and start?

Send us a message to wolontariat [at] uw.edu.pl with confirmation of your availability in July and August and with information whether you want to participate in the online training on Ukrainian culture.

We are waiting for applications until Monday, June 27, 3 p.m.

Diversophy® Training – a game focused on Ukrainian culture.

We invite volunteers to take part in an online meeting during which we will learn Ukrainian customs, culture and everyday habits in a practical way – through a specially prepared game. The aim of the game is to encourage mutual knowledge and discussion, better understanding, and enrichment with what is new.

  • Especially for us, the meeting will be conducted by Marta Doroszuk – SIETAR Polska member, psychologist, psychosocial skills trainer, PhD student at the Institute of Psychology of the Jagiellonian University.
  • Date of training: June 30 (Thursday) at 5 p.m. (17:00) (the meeting will last about 1.5 hours)
  • Place: online, ZOOM platform

The training will be conducted in English, therefore the knowledge of this language is required. The training is free of charge.

(Before the meeting, the participants will receive an e-mail with a request to fill in  a short questionnaire, which is part of the Trainer’s research.)

If you have any questions, we are at your disposal!
