This year, as every previous one, the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw would like to invite you to support cats and dogs from the shelters!
But Filling in pets’ bellies is not only a food collection. We also organize workshops and educational meetings. This time we invite you to an interesting meeting with a dog behaviorist.

Workshop: Let’s Dog Talk!
January 19, 5:00 PM (scheduled end of the meeting: 7:00 PM)
Language: English
Place: Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw
(University of Warsaw Library, Dobra 56/66, ground floor)

The focus of the workshop is understanding how dogs perceive the world, what and how they communicate with each other and us, and what real (and not stereotypical) needs they have.

A few words about Marta Kotarbińska a behaviourist and co-founder of the Zwierzochron Foundation:

Dogs have always been my true love and passion, though they appeared at our home only some 20 years ago, and so it began…. In 2013 I started volunteering at a small animal shelter nearby Warsaw in Siestrzeń, where a year later, together with three other volunteers, I founded the Zwierzochron Foundation so we could help animals in need even more effectively. In 2017, the Zwierzochron Foundation received the status of a Public Benefit Organisation and since then you can donate 1.5% of the income tax to us in the annual tax return (KRS 0000527465 – Fundacja Zwierzochron). In order to be able to work properly with dogs requiring special skills, I have completed a dog training instructor course conducted by Piotr Awencki from the ZUZIK Kennel Education Centre, numerous courses and seminars, and I am about to complete the Applied Animal Psychology (Faculty of Psychology at Warsaw University). I have also recently completed a professional comprehensive course „Behaviourist-Zoopychologist” at Ethoplanet – Ethological Training and Consulting Centre (Ethoplanet – Etologiczne Centrum Szkoleniowo Doradcze).

In my work with dogs, I focus on explaining dog communication and creating dog-human bonds based on mutual trust and respect – this is the foundation on which to build.

I have three adopted dogs: Misia (a 14-year-old „almost” Caucasian Shepard), Gafel (an 11-year-old „almost” Amstaff), and Zojka (a 5-year-old “almost” Dobermann).
