Join the team of “Democratic School Dziki Brzeg” and experience a new face of alternative, freedom education. We are looking for an English-speaking person to accompany teachers and children on excursions in the city and forest. Democratic schools are modern educational institutions that focus on the development of independence, critical thinking and the inclusion of children in decision-making processes, seeking to treat them as partners in discovering the world.

Task?

We are looking for a person who will accompany on expeditions and speak to the children only in English. Our goal is to give the children the opportunity to learn the language while interacting with each other.

Where?
Expeditions always start at the school (18 Genewska Street), and then they go where their legs and thoughts will carry them – it can be a forest, a museum, a city, a lake, a carpenter’s workshop, or anything else that pops into they heads.

When?
Every Friday/at least 2 Fridays per month, minimum 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., younger group (levels 1-3)

or

Every Tuesday/at least 2 Tuesdays per month, minimum 10 a.m. –2 p.m., older group (levels 4-8).

They are most interested in Your presence during the expedition (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), but if you wish, you are also welcome before and after it – the school opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. You can then, e.g.: play board games, chat, play games, or just hang out with pupils.

Who are they looking for?

They would like to invite to the project individuals who:

  • are English-speakers,
  • enjoy spending time with children,
  • are interested in how education can look different.

Why join the initiative?

  • you will see what a school completely different from a typical ‘system’ school can look like,
  • you will help kids learn English,
  • you will experience a lot of adventures,
  • you will become part of community,
  • you will be provided with lunch, coffee, tea,
  • if you’re willing, you can try your hand at leading classes,
  • you can learn how to resolve conflicts between children, how to support their development, how to prepare workshops,
  • if you wish, you can participate in the Polish Democratic School Meetup.

In addition, volunteers will receive certificates, and pedagogy students can receive certificates for their internships.
